Plan For Your Health

One of the most effective ways you can manage your health and weight loss is to plan your meals.  Actually, if we all did a little more planning, I'm sure things would go a lot smoother for most of us.  Of course, a little spontaneity never hurt anyone either.

As far as losing weight though, planning your meals is crucial.  Usually if you don't plan for what you're going to eat that day, you wait around until the last minute, when you're starving, and then you go and get some fast food or eat some quickie frozen meal garbage from the freezer.  We've all done it.

Now, I don't mean you necessarily have to write down on paper what you are going to eat each day.  Although, that would be a fantastic idea because things written down are 5 times more likely to actually get down.  But, it can be just as simple as taking a few minutes in the morning to think about some ideas for food to eat during the day and at what time you will be eating.

You see, let's say you decide you want to make a nice salmon filet for dinner in the evening, and some vegetables to go along with it and whatever else you want for that meal.  As your day progresses, if you get busy, you know in the back of your mind that you need to prepare that meal, so you can get other things done in time to make the meal.

If you didn't plan on what to eat and when to eat it, most likely you would have gotten caught up in some errands or other work, and by the time you realized you were really hungry (which is bad anyway), its either too late or you're too tired to make something worthwhile.  So, you settle for some kind of garbage food.

Bad food ALWAYS seems to be more readily available or easier to make than healthy food!  Crazy how that is, huh?  Bad food seems to be cheaper too, but that's life I guess.  Anyway, there are many healthy food options that can be prepared quite quickly, you just have to schedule a little extra time in your day for them.

Good point Kris. I am notorious for not knowing what I want to fix for meals. Part of that is because I am such a picky eater and don't eat many of the things the rest of my family does. Also, it's so frustrating when I ask the family what they want to eat for the week and no one can give me an answer. Then, when I make the decisions and make the meals, they say they don't like them.

I will try to make more of an effort to plan my meals for the week. I am also going back to writing down what I eat every day.
